Overall, the KVN Show was a mix of improvisation, game show and stand-up comedy performed on TV stage. If the Funny Guys specials were literally inspired by the British and American broadcast style, the KVN Show is a strictly Russian TV phenomenon. One of the most popular shows of the 1960's, KVN was pulled from the air by the Soviet censorship in the 1970's and I was extremely proud of being a part of bringing the show back in 1986.

Personally, KVN brought my first popularity among Russian viewers with several comedy sketches written at that time. The show gave me an opportunity to be exposed to a variety of television skills. KVN is still popular and, as in the 1960's, it is still hosted by Alexander Maslyakov.

In the 1990's, KVN became really international featuring Russian comedy teams from the USA, Germany, Israel. I was invited to the US national KVN team which was a part of several comedy festivals including USA Tours '93 and '96 and Israel Comedy Festival '94.
