It all started in the 1980s in Moscow, Russia. Well, technically it was still the USSR. But it was almost over for the Soviet days in Russian history.

Anyway, we were students in an engineering college and in our free time we were writing and performing stand-up comedy routines. We were young, funny, and ambitious and, what's more important, full of this energy that made us absolutely sure that we were going to make the funniest comedy TV show ever. We were what one might call a Dreamteam where all of us were writers, performers, directors, musicians, designers, and dancers.

I am not sure that we made the "funniest show ever" but we did numerous theater and television comedy programs. Our variety stage shows had several successful national tours in Russia, Ukraine and Belorussia. As for our TV shows, most of them were made in the style of the British Monty Python Show and American Saturday Night Live and were among the most popular shows on the Russian television of that time. Besides national television, some of our segments were shown on various broadcast channels in Europe, Australia and North America.

Overall, my broadcast track of the 1980's included production of over 20 series and specials including comedy, children, game and variety programs shown on the Soviet National Television.
