"My emotions in game eight were so high, I lost total control. One of the few fights I ever had was with Mishakov. He raised me in the air and body slammed me to the ice. I was not a fighter."

Rod Gilbert
Team Canada # 8

Rod Gilbert was an experienced NHL forward whose on-ice skill set included top level hockey techniques, fast skating and high scoring talent. Gilbert was an important part of a famous GAG (“goal a game”) line when he played with Jean Ratelle and Vic Hadfield in the NY Rangers team. His team never won the Stanley Cup, but was the most popular player among the Big Apple hockey fans. Gilbert was one of the classiest NHL forwards of that era.
